50 Best Youtube Niches With Low Competition to Skyrocket Your Channel

best youtube niches with low competition

Are you looking for the best YouTube niches with low competition to start a profitable channel?

Here is the short answer. The best niches for YouTube right now are the narrow corners of big topics: retro gaming instead of gaming, healthy snacks for kids instead of food.

Below you have 10 big niches and 50 low competition niches for YouTube inside them, five per niche.

Why does the niche matter so much? Because YouTube only starts paying once you get into its Partner Program. According to YouTube’s own help page, you need 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 watch hours in the last 12 months (or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days). In a crowded niche, a new channel can take years to get there. In an unsaturated niche, you have a real chance of being the channel people find first.

For every niche I show you the trend, the keyword score from the screenshots (out of 100, the higher the easier) and five less competitive YouTube niche ideas you could start with. For the main topics I measured US search demand in October 2026 with DataForSEO, using Google Ads data. Those are Google searches, not YouTube searches, but they tell you whether people care about a topic at all. And if you’re after the best YouTube automation niches, I point out at the end which ones work without showing your face.

Here’s the list.

50 Best Youtube Niches with Low Competition for 2025

list of top youtube niches with low competition

Pick one of these less crowded niches and you’ll grow faster, simply because fewer channels are fighting for the same viewers.

Every topic here is fun to film, has people who actually watch it, and has a clear way to make money from your videos.

One warning before you start. The high-level niche will always be more competitive than its sub-niches, so for each one I’ve added YouTube sub-niche ideas with low competition. That’s where a new channel has a chance.

1. Gaming Subniches.

If one YouTube niche has grown massively, it’s the gaming niche. That also makes it extremely competitive. With a score of 19/100 it shouldn’t be on this list at all, and you’d be right. However, we’ll focus on sub-niches, so bear with me for now.

The trend below spiked during the Covid outbreak. It has dropped a little since then, but it stays pretty stable.

gaming trend

Gaming is a very competitive YouTube niche, with 6.2M videos and 1M channels in the first screenshot. So think about your strategy before you choose it.

Why bother, then? Because new games come out every month, and every one of them needs YouTubers sharing tips, streams and their own experience. That’s the gap we’re going for.

Low competition subniches

Many of the most popular YouTube gaming channels cover a single game. It’s the easiest way to niche down from gaming and leave thousands of competitors behind. You could build a channel only about Valheim, for instance, with tips, builds and survival runs. If your content is good enough, Valheim players will follow you, and there are plenty of them: “valheim” gets 90,500 Google searches a month in the US.

The “easiest” way to win here is choosing a game that is popular enough, but not the most popular. It also helps if it’s fairly new. Then you only compete with other new channels instead of established ones, which are much harder to beat.

Some sub-niche ideas for gaming:

  1. Classic games from the 80s and 90s, with walkthroughs, reviews and a lot of nostalgia. Older gamers love it, and “retro gaming” alone gets 74,000 US searches a month.
  2. Indie games that the big channels ignore. Review them, interview the developers and cover upcoming releases before anyone else (“indie games” gets 33,100 searches a month).
  3. Games that teach something, like coding, history or science. Your viewers here are learners, parents and teachers.
  4. Accessible gaming for players with disabilities. Rate each game by its accessibility options and share tips for specific needs.
  5. Local multiplayer. Online games dominate, yet couch co-op still has a fun, nostalgic side. Review the games that support it, give gameplay tips and film the best moments with friends or family.

Remember to pick just one game and create lots of great content around it. That alone improves your chances of a profitable YouTube channel. New releases help you jump ahead, too: a Street Fighter channel could use every new game in the series to get above older competitors.

Go one level deeper and it gets even easier. Street Fighter 6 mods has far fewer competitors and still gets 1,900 Google searches a month in the US.

2. Fitness Fashion.

Two of the most dominant niches on the internet are fitness and fashion. Combining them is a safe bet, and interest keeps growing.

Interest in the term grows slowly on YouTube, but it’s growing faster on other platforms like Instagram. And brands keep putting more money into fitness fashion, so this is a good YouTube niche to monetize with sponsors and affiliate links.

Search volume on YouTube is excellent and the competition is medium. A score of 65/100 makes it a good niche idea even before you niche down.

Want proof that brands care? Google Ads rates advertiser competition for “athleisure” (33,100 US searches a month) as high. Where advertisers fight for buyers, sponsors usually follow.

Low competition subniches

Some sub niche ideas for fitness fashion:

  1. Athleisure reviews that test comfort, style and how the clothes hold up, comparing expensive brands with cheaper alternatives.
  2. Workout wear hauls as a regular series. Talk about fit, durability and which piece works for which kind of training.
  3. Seasonal outfits for training: breathable fabrics for summer runs and warm layers for winter workouts, indoors and outdoors.
  4. Fitness fashion on a budget, with sales, discounts and cheap brands that are actually worth buying.
  5. Sustainable workout clothes from brands that use recycled materials and ethical factories.

3. Healthy Snacks sub-niches.

The food niche is another of the big YouTube niches. Healthy food, in particular, is in high demand on YouTube search.

With a score of 38/100, though, the high-level niche is not our best option.

That’s why going one level down to healthy snacks makes sense. You remove some competition and keep a more than decent volume: “healthy snacks” gets 246,000 Google searches a month in the US. The trend keeps growing over time, so this could be a good moment to start.

Still, great volume comes with very high competition here, so it’s a good idea to niche down one more level.

Low competition subniches

Some sub niche ideas for healthy snacks:

  1. Healthy snacks for kids, with quick recipes that children actually want to eat. Parents search for this a lot (33,100 times a month in the US).
  2. Vegan snacks made only with plant-based ingredients, for a vegan audience that keeps getting bigger.
  3. High-protein, low-sugar snacks for people who train or lift weights. Add the nutrition facts of each one.
  4. Snacks for work that are easy to prepare and give you energy without the post-lunch slump.
  5. Allergy-friendly recipes without nuts, gluten or dairy, for viewers with allergies who still want something tasty and healthy.

The more specific the topic, the less competition you face and the faster your channel can grow. For this example I tried “healthy snacks for late night cravings”. It only gets 320 Google searches a month in the US, but look how much lower the competition is:

4. Travel Vlog Sub-niches.

Some might say the first popular YouTube channels were travel vlogs. Either way, interest in this niche has never stopped growing.

That popularity also means high competition, so you need really good content if you want to stand a chance.

Low competition subniches

Travel videos are usually filmed in first person, with the traveler telling the story of the trip. But there are so many ways to do that! Fresh ideas still have a real chance in this niche.

Some sub niche ideas for travel vlogs:

  1. Budget travel, with cheap destinations and real tips to save money on the road. The audience is huge, since most people travel on a budget.
  2. Solo female travel: safety tips, destination guides and personal stories for women who travel alone. “solo female travel” gets 4,400 US searches a month.
  3. Eco-friendly travel, covering green hotels, responsible tourism and places known for protecting nature.
  4. Hidden gems away from the tourist traps, like rural towns, odd landmarks and cities nobody talks about.
  5. Cultural immersion vlogs about local traditions, food and daily life, for viewers who want more than the usual sightseeing.

You can also find less competitive youtube niches by making travel vlogs about the place where you live (your country, city or town), for instance “travel vlog Spain”.

See how the difficulty score drops? That gives you a much better chance to succeed in this niche.

5. Sustainable Fashion sub-niches.

Sustainable fashion vlogging is another niche growing in popularity. Big and small brands are making more ethical clothes and buyers care more every year, so expect it to keep growing.

As you can see, it’s already quite competitive. So we’ll need some sub niche ideas.

The trend graph below covers the last 5 years, and you can clearly see the recent growth.

The competition knows the potential, so it’s already medium. Still, there’s plenty of room in a YouTube niche that’s only starting to explode. “sustainable fashion” gets 9,900 US Google searches a month with a $3.34 CPC, so advertisers do pay to reach this audience.

Low competition subniches

Some sub niche ideas for sustainable fashion:

  1. Thrift store flips: buy second-hand clothes and turn them into stylish outfits. “thrift flip” gets 1,000 US searches a month, with low ad competition.
  2. DIY fashion with eco-friendly materials, from natural dyeing to upcycling old garments and sewing by hand.
  3. Vegan and cruelty-free fashion, reviewing brands that don’t use animal materials.
  4. Sustainable fashion on a budget. Build an eco-friendly wardrobe, find good deals and get more out of the clothes you already own.
  5. A zero-waste wardrobe, with minimalist challenges, tips to buy clothes that last and to care for them so they last even longer. Brands with zero-waste production fit here too.

Here is an example of a great sub-niche with an excellent score.

6. Sports sub-niches.

Sports is one of the best niches on any platform, just because of how many people follow it. The trick here is to stay away from mainstream sports.

The trend is very stable and has grown over the last few years, so this is a solid niche. But where should you focus?

Low competition subniches

Some sub-niche ideas for sports:

  1. Lesser-known sports from around the world, including local sports that are huge in one region and unknown everywhere else.
  2. Sports psychology, covering concentration, performance anxiety and the mental game, for athletes who want an edge.
  3. Outdoor adventure sports for beginners, like rock climbing, kayaking or trail running, with gear reviews and how to get started safely.
  4. Recreational sports to stay healthy, like badminton, table tennis or frisbee. Easy, cheap and open to almost anyone.
  5. Breakdowns of historic games: the strategies, the turning points and the stories behind them, for fans who love tactics and sports history.

Here is an example of a great sub-niche with an excellent score.

7. Skincare For Men.

Skincare is a very popular niche for women, and incredibly competitive. Men, though, are looking after their skin more than ever, which opens a new business opportunity. It’s now a niche on its own.

The trend below shows how fast interest in this topic has grown over the last few years.

It also scores 66/100, so you can easily find your spot in this topic. And the money is there: “skincare for men” gets 5,400 US searches a month with a $4.45 CPC.

Low competition subniches

Some sub-niche ideas for skincare for men:

  1. Skincare for men with beards: healthy skin under the beard, the right products and beard grooming.
  2. Anti-aging for men, with routines and products for fine lines and skin that loses elasticity.
  3. Skincare for active men, about sweat acne, sun protection outdoors and fast routines for busy days.
  4. Natural and organic skincare. Review chemical-free products and share simple homemade remedies.
  5. Routines for each skin type (oily, dry, sensitive or combination), plus how to tell which one you have.

8. AI Marketing.

Digital marketing is probably one of the fastest-growing niches of the last few years. Add AI to the mix and marketing becomes a profitable YouTube niche idea.

Its difficulty was rated easy just a year before I took this screenshot. That gives you an idea of how fast it’s moving.

With a score of 11/100, we sure need better options.

So why keep it on the list? Because businesses pay a lot to reach this audience. “ai marketing” has a $34.16 CPC in the US, against $0.77 for “healthy snacks”. That’s no promise of higher YouTube ad rates, but it tells you who is spending money here.

Low competition subniches

Some sub-niche ideas for AI marketing:

  1. AI for small business marketing: customer segmentation, personalized emails and content ideas on a small budget.
  2. AI for social media, from spotting trends to creating content and targeting ads, aimed at marketers and influencers.
  3. The ethics of AI marketing, like data privacy, manipulation and transparency, for viewers who care about using AI responsibly.
  4. AI for personalized customer journeys, from first contact to after-sales, with tools for journey mapping and behavior analysis.
  5. AI for content creation and SEO: keyword research, content generation and engagement analysis. Coming from SEO, this is the one I’d look at first, because the tools change every month and there’s always something new to explain.

Here is an example of a less competitive idea:

9. Technology Sub-niches

You might think: “this is probably the most saturated market on YouTube, how can it be a low-competition sub-niche?” Well, technology changes so fast that new gaps open all the time. That’s the opportunity.

The trend keeps going up, too, and that can only help you if you decide to take this road.

Low competition subniches

Some sub-niche ideas for technology:

  1. Tech for seniors, with easy gadgets and step-by-step tutorials for older users. It’s small on Google (480 US searches a month), but very specific.
  2. Eco-friendly gadgets: green tech, energy-saving devices and simple ways to use tech more sustainably.
  3. Assistive technology for people with disabilities, with reviews of adaptive devices, software tutorials and accessibility tips.
  4. Tech in education. E-learning tools, educational apps for kids and what’s new in classrooms, for teachers and parents.
  5. Home automation for beginners. Explain basic smart home devices, show the setup and help people connect everything. “home automation” gets 12,100 US searches a month with a $4.14 CPC and low ad competition.

A good niche for YouTube would be:

10. Home and Garden Sub-niches

Home and garden is also full of opportunities, and it already has a decent score of 62/100. Staying high-level would still be a mistake, because this niche gives you plenty of good options that are easy to monetize.

The trend confirms it’s a good place to be, with interest growing over the last few years and staying stable.

Low competition subniches

Some sub-niche ideas for home and garden:

  1. Urban gardening in small spaces, like balcony gardens, indoor herbs and vertical gardens for people in apartments. “urban gardening” gets 6,600 US searches a month and “balcony garden” 1,600.
  2. Eco-friendly home tips such as composting, homemade natural cleaners and saving water in the garden.
  3. Gardening for mental health, about how planting, caring for and harvesting plants makes people feel better.
  4. Restoring and upcycling old furniture, with step-by-step DIY projects and tips to find pieces worth saving.
  5. Seasonal maintenance for home and garden: what to do in the garden each season and how to get the house ready for the weather.

One of the best niches could be:

Best Youtube Niches- Conclusion.

So, what’s the best niche for YouTube in your case? Out of all these YouTube niches with low competition, pick the sub-niche that’s narrow enough to beat the channels already there, and one you can keep filming for at least a year. Don’t start with “gaming” or “food”. Start with Valheim or healthy snacks for kids.

Who shouldn’t do this? Anyone expecting quick money. You still need 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours before YouTube pays you anything, and that takes months even in a niche with low competition.

How do you know if a sub-niche is still open? Type it into the YouTube search bar and look at the first 10 videos. If most of them come from huge channels and were uploaded last week, move on. If you see small channels with a few thousand subscribers ranking with videos that are two or three years old, that’s your gap. Then read the comments under those videos. The questions nobody has answered yet are your first video ideas.

Give it a few dozen videos before you judge the niche. One or two uploads tell you nothing.

Looking for the best YouTube automation niches, the kind of channel you run with voiceovers and an editor? From this list, AI marketing, tech for seniors, historic game breakdowns and home and garden tips all work without your face on camera (“faceless youtube channel” gets 2,400 US searches a month). I’ve covered more ideas in this list of faceless YouTube niches.

Before you commit to any idea, check its competition with a keyword tool like TubeBuddy (that’s an affiliate link). It tells you how hard each keyword is and helps you pick the topics your videos can rank for. It has a free plan, and the paid plans are 20% cheaper if you pay yearly. I checked their pricing page in October 2026.

Now it’s your turn!
